Thought of the Day
Judgment is Not a Prompt
You can outsource the execution, but you cannot outsource the authorship. Judgment isn't found in the response window; it's what decides if the window should even be open.
We are raising a generation of "prompt engineers" who are forgetting how to be actual engineers.
The danger is not that AI is getting smarter. The danger is that we are making it easier to be smart without being right. We’ve professionalized the shortcut.
When you prompt, you are already assuming the boundaries of the answer. You are setting the constraints before the truth has a chance to speak. You are asking for a rendering of what you already think you want.
Judgment is the opposite. Judgment requires you to sit with the unpromptable. To notice the thing that doesn't fit the category. To hear the subtext in a customer's voice that a transcript will never capture. To feel the structural weakness in a strategy that looks perfectly logical on a slide but has no soul.
If you only see what you know how to ask for, you are deaf to the most important signals in your business.
The map is not the mind. Your tools are maps. Your prompts are coordinates. But the terrain is alive, messy, and indifferent to your desire for a clean summary.
Leverage is not about having the best AI at your table. It’s being the only person at the table who spent enough time with reality to notice what the AI politely flattened.
Judgment begins where the prompt ends.
Don't just be the reviewer of other people's summaries. Be the author of the position.
